چکیده

Background: The aim of this research was to investigate the efficiency methods overcome primary dormancy and biochemical processes associated with germination Erythrina falcata Benth seeds. Seeds were submitted overcoming treatments water uptake pattern analysed. We then evaluated activity antioxidant enzymes SOD, CAT, APX, quantified lipid peroxidation levels, hydrogen peroxide content total protein content. experiments performed in a completely randomized design statistical analysis used Scott-Knott test at 5% probability. Results: Mechanical scarification sandpaper leads approximately 94% E. falcata, while control non-scarified seeds show only 37% germination. Treatments hot led high mortality Rapid absorption observed first 18 hours imbition when scarified sandpaper, radicle emergence after 36 hours. During imbibition there an increase enzyme decrease H2O2 production, suggesting efficient mechanism for regulating damage. A during Conclusions: is method breaking reduction production peroxidation, enzymes. decreased along time.

Seed dormancy-breaking and germination requirements of

Dormancy breaking and germination requirements were investigated in seeds of Ferula ovina and Ferula gummosa. Seeds of rather species were collected from north and eastern-north rangelands of Iran. Seeds of each of the species were subjected to different treatments including various levels of GA3, chilling and combination of GA3 and chilling (GA-chilling). In contrast to treated seeds, non-trea...

Dormancy-breaking requirements of Sophora tomentosa and Erythrina speciosa (Fabaceae) seeds.

The physical dormancy of seeds has been poorly studied in species from tropical forests, such as the Atlantic Forest. This study aimed to examine the effect of moderate alternating temperatures on breaking the physical dormancy of seeds, the morphoanatomy and histochemistry of seed coats, and to locate the structure/region responsible for water entrance into the seed, after breaking the physica...

Physical forces in dormancy and germination of xanthium seeds.

The germination of seeds of Xanthium pensylvanicum Wallr. occurs in 2 phases, an initial passive phase of water uptake followed by an active phase of growth. These 2 phases have been separated experimentally, and shown to occur similarly in isolated cotyledons and embryonic axes. Measurements of the physical thrust generated by the entire seed and its separate components of cotyledon and axis r...

A STUDY ON SEED GERMINATION OF AVENA LUDOVICIANA AND THE EFFECTIVE FACTORS IN SEED DORMANCY BREAKING

Wild oat has two seeds in a spikelet that they have different physiological behavior in regard of  seed germiantion. The upper seed of spikelet is smaller and has deeper dormancy than the lower seed. The range of temperature for germination is  5˚C  to  25 ˚C  and optimal temperature is 15˚C. Both kinds of seeds showed the more  germination rate in low temperatures so that 5 and 10˚C are better...
